Biophilia Poster Competition
October 15 @ 8:00 am - October 25 @ 5:00 pm
BrandCulture and PosterTerritory’s Biophilia Poster Competition invites all who are inspired by biophilia to explore the theme in a contemporary international poster competition.
The competition will culminate in a traveling exhibition of 100+ short-listed posters at multiple locations including Serenbe, The Atlanta Beltline and Ponce City Market in Atlanta, The Helms Design Center in Los Angeles and a PosterTerritory event in Barcelona.
With 30 days left until the final deadline, the Biophilia Poster Competition has already received 1200+ submissions from over 25 countries. Posters may be submitted through July 15, 2020 and must be original work created after January 1, 2019. Posters that have received awards in other competitions are not eligible.
Biophilia is the idea that humans and nature have an intrinsic bond and that people should nurture this bond instead of fighting it. A focus on biophilia and biophilic design comes at a time when people are generally separated from nature. Biophilic design – designing with this relationship in mind – can benefit both the health of the planet and humans. When parks, buildings and spaces are designed with nature in mind, people tend to feel better, more balanced and more restored.
On Biophilic Design, Elizabeth Calabrese, Biophilic Educator and Architect and competition jury member, has said:
“I see us, as a humanity, moving towards a new design ecology, one that embraces complex system thinking, creative problem solving, ecology and biophilia while promoting the understanding of our interconnectedness to a world much greater than ourselves.”
The competition will be judged by a panel of distinguished design and biophilic experts including:
Gail Anderson, Chair, BFA Design School of Visual Arts in NYC
Lisa Babb, National Board Member, AIGA
