Joe Beverly is the Founder, Chairman and President of Adaptable Systems Corporation dba Corporate Payroll Services which he started 1984. He was elected President of the Atlanta Technology Angels in December of 2017 and is an active investor in startups. Joe is also Chairman of Actify Investor Retirements and was the Chairman of the Board of Family Care, Inc. until it was sold in 2011. His areas of expertise are payroll processing, finance, investments, accounting, computer software and hardware, and he holds a Series 65 (Investment Adviser Representative) license.
Joe received his BBA in International Business from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. A native of Richmond, VA, he has a son and two daughters and currently lives with his wife in the metro Atlanta area and is an active proponent of a healthy lifestyle.
Michael Horten is a US and European educated lawyer with over 40 years’ experience as a practicing attorney. Michael began his legal career with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and Paris. He then spent 25 years with King & Spalding in Atlanta. At the end of 1999, he retired from the King & Spalding partnership to launch Horten CC, a corporate law firm specializing in the representation of entrepreneurial growth companies of all sizes from inception through exit, along with the investors that finance them.
Horten CC employs a non-traditional practice model aimed at the needs of entrepreneurial growth companies. Most of its services are provided for a fixed fee and the firm maintains pricelists for the services that typically are needed by entrepreneurial growth companies.
Michael handles a large volume of angel investments. He represents some of the leading angel groups, including SeedInvest, AIM Group, VentureSouth and ATA. He is an ATDC Mentor and ATV Advisor and a frequent speaker to accelerators and angel investors, including the National Science Foundation, Angel Capital Association, CEO Space, ATDC, ATA and ATV.
